So far into the reading of Educating Esme I have found a few things. First, I feel that Esme is a resilient individual and does things her way. An example to support this would be when she is being interviewed for a teaching job and she said things how she saw it and even said that she thought she was being stubborn at times and wouldn't get the job. Also I get the hint that Ismene played an important role in Esme's life and/or teaching career. Esme said that she could remember the last day teaching with Ismene which I believe shows that something must have happened between the two of them before she died. Lastly, I learned that Esme is very "open" when writing this book. I feel that she isn't afraid to say anything that she feels or heard and in reality it gives the reader a clearer picture of what went on throughout her teaching year.
